A breast lift is a well-established procedure, but risks include scars (their extent depends on the technique, fading over time), changes in nipple or breast sensation, asymmetry, delayed healing, and possible effects on future breastfeeding. The small risks of anaesthesia also apply, and smoking impairs healing. An experienced surgeon plans the scar pattern to balance lift and discretion.

No — a lift reshapes and raises the breast but does not add volume. If you also want a larger or fuller breast, it is combined with an implant in one operation (augmentation-mastopexy). Your surgeon advises based on your goals.
The scar pattern depends on the degree of sagging — around the areola, a vertical line, and sometimes a horizontal crease ('anchor'). Scars are permanent but are placed discreetly and usually soften and fade over the following year.
Results are long-lasting, but the breasts still age and respond to gravity, weight changes and pregnancy. Maintaining a stable weight and wearing supportive bras help the result last longer.
Many women can, as the technique usually preserves the nipple's blood supply and ducts, but a lift can affect breastfeeding. Tell your surgeon if future breastfeeding is important.
